Fuel Tank

A fuel tank is the component where the fuel required for the operation of a vehicle is stored before being delivered to the engine. The fuel needed for the vehicle to move is safely stored here and supplied to the engine during operation.

Types and Features of Fuel Tanks

Fuel tanks are designed and manufactured to fulfill the function of fuel storage. To perform this function properly, they must have specific material properties and appropriate systems. The main systems that should be present in a vehicle’s fuel tank are listed below:

  • Fuel Filler Neck: Fuel must be filled into the tank properly through the filler neck.
  • Fuel Protection: The tank must be made from materials suitable for the type of fuel and manufactured to proper standards to prevent leakage or evaporation.
  • Fuel Level Measurement: The level of liquid or gas in the tank must be measured and monitored via vehicle indicators.
  • Ventilation System: If the fuel expands or evaporates, excess pressure must be reduced using safety valves.
  • Engine Supply System: Fuel must be delivered to the engine through fuel pumps and intake systems.

All these operations are carried out using various components mounted on the tank. For these systems to function properly, the fuel tank must meet specific production and quality standards. With over 40 years of experience, KMD is one of the leading manufacturers in the truck and trailer fuel tank industry.
